Medellin

In three days we are headed to Medellin, the second largest city in Colombia. It is in the coffee region. The city is situated within a narrow mountain valley and has the nickname "the City of Eternal Spring" as it maintains a pleasant temperature year-round.

That's where will be in three days. Right now we are trying to decide what to take, how to take it, etc. I've made lots of lists--is everything critical? Will we have spaces for souvenirs? Will there be too much for me to handle alone after Todd leaves?

We are trying to heed the warning and not to pack too much (although I don't know that I can even fathom matching the feat of another adoptive mom who got everything for their month-long journey packed into carry-on bags only). I have a documented history of packing too much, and although I have improved over time, it is still a big challenge for me ("what if I need ____?")

It is difficult to know what is enough. Not from the perspective of clothes (although I am probably packing too much in that area, too), but comfort and play items. But I do know that the stack of items on my cedar chest needs to start migrating into suitcases so we can prepare to leave. In three days.

Wow, only three days! How exciting. Good luck in your packing process, though I am sure everything will work out fine no matter what you end up bringing or not bringing. We are so excited for you!

Good luck packing. I have started piling up stuff in the playroom and managed to drag out 1 suitcase...but haven't put anything in it.

They have great malls there (and exito) in case you forget anything. Since you aren't getting a baby you don't have to worry about how expensive baby stuff is.

I recommend carrying 2-3 decent size duffel bags. They will fold up and fit inside the luggage you are taking and can be used to hold extra stuff down the road. Also you can send one home with Todd with the the things you decide you don't need and books and other souvenirs when he leaves. Remember he can take back 2 checked bags plus a carry on. Send whatever you can with him and there will be less for you, Riza and Yuly to take to Bogota and home.

See you in Miami in a couple of days!!

I was so amazed after reading all the info about the whole adoption process! I knew some of what was going on, but this painted a great picture for me to have to pray over. I am so proud of you all . What a gift an adoption is. As Christians we value it even more since we have been adopted by our loving Father. I shall wait patiently to hear more updates.
Buen suerte hoy y cada dias.
Te amo,
