Day 5: The bright spot in a difficult day

We had been warned about it, read about it, expected it, but nothing really prepared us for how emotionally difficult today was. But, I don't want to dwell on the difficulties, but instead thank God that He also gave us some bright spots of the day.

One of the brightest spots was Yuly's birthday party. Her birthday is not in October, but for some reason, she wanted to celebrate it today. So, we got a Winnie the Pooh cake, an 8 candle, some soda and we had a birthday party!

Yuly wanted "the whole world" to come, but she settled for all of the people in the hotel. She went from room to room and invited everybody. All the staff and guests came--even a young man for whom the trip down the stairs was a difficult chore for him. We sang Happy Birthday and shared cake and soda with everyone.

Afterwards there were photo ops with some of our new friends...

The day, thankfully, ended with giggles, hugs and kisses. Just praying that God continues to give us wisdom, patience, and help during this transition! and thanking Him for the bright spots.

Those "bright spots" make it easier to get through and fade the memory of those not so easy times. I think it's difficult to imagine how hard the transition is for them, but God does always provide what we need to help them (and ourselves) through it. Praying for lots of bright spots for all of you.

Lots of prayers coming your way today. Just remember you are not alone and many of us reading know just what you are going thru and know how to pray for you. Jess was very difficult the first few weeks, but by the time we came home she was a real gem. Jess was also 7, I can't imagine what they are going thru. Old enough to understand the process but not old enough to deal with the emotions on their own. Stand your ground and show her lots of love. You will get thru this together! Oh and by the way, she looks like a little peanut, what a cutie!!!
