This morning, we went to play in the water jets again. Every day Yuly wants to go, but it has been pretty cool. Today was a little warmer so we headed out. We even took our two friends from the hotel--five of us were jammed into the back seat of A's little car. The kids didn't play much because it was pretty cold, but they had fun while we were there.

The rest of the day we spent hanging out at the hotel. We watched a lot of Disney channel (in Spanish!). I've also taught the kids to play Phase 10 for kids. We have a lot of fun playing, although we spend half of the time accusing each other of being cheaters (tramboso!). Today I also taught them to say "Blah blah blah." Todd says I am a bad influence on them :)

We also found out some of what the people here are saying about us.
We let our kids play in the rain. The courtyard in the hotel is open and when it was sprinkling, we all went out and played in the rain. Apparently that is weird.
We let Riza wear sundresses. She was wearing a sundress on a day that while we were out we saw people wearing coats and even mittens!
We don't know what raspberries are. That was just a misunderstanding. Every day we have fresh-squeezed juice. Sometimes I ask what the fruit is. Most are pretty easy to tell (pineapple, mango, etc), but one pink one I couldn't tell. I showed them the spanish dictionary, and asked the worker to tell me what it was. She showed me a word in the dictionary, but the translated word was not a fruit, so I was confused. The cook took me into the kitchen to show me the raspberry and indicated that Todd and I should try it. It looked like a raspberry, but it didn't taste like a raspberry, so we were confused. Later, A told us that it was a raspberry but that they do taste different here.
We put rice in our soup. Every lunch and dinner we have soup (premier course) and rice as part of secondo. Sometimes there is just so much food, so I ask for no meat or soup only or something like that. I had been putting rice in the soup frequently, and one night the soup was a pureed soup so I asked for just soup and rice. I asked the server to just put the rice into the soup (instead of bringing me two plates). He gave me a very strange look. Later he brought out the rice on a plate and the soup. He said he knew I was going to put the rice in the soup, but that he just couldn't do it!

So, we are continuing to have a relaxing time together and becoming more and more like family every day!

Isn't it funny the things that are perfectly normal and acceptable here in the US are viewed entirely differently in other countries? We are enjoying following your journey and can't wait to see you have with all of your daughters together!
