Today Todd and I went to be fingerprinted for our local and FBI background checks. We were happy to find out from our home study agency that we could get both done in the same place, and because they are done electronically, we didn't have to have the FBI cards. When Todd and I got there, the worker (who was very nice) explained the procedure. He told us that each fingerprint would get a score from 0-100 and that fingerprints had to have a score above 35 to be "acceptable." So, Todd started challenging me to see who would get the best score. He went first and his scores ranged from the mid-70s to 97. I thought I was up to the challenge, but I apparently not. The worker had a lot of trouble getting my fingerprints. Each print had to be taken multiple times--I got a couple scores in the mid-70s, but most were in the 30s. But the really funny thing was that some of my scores were negative numbers. One number was -22!! The worker said he had never seen a score below 0 (I had several). So, I guess if I ever lose my job at the hospital, I can consider petty theft as I would be untraceable (just kidding, of course). It is in fact my job at the hospital, and all the hand washing, that probably created this fingerprint issue. The agency staff was very helpful throughout the process. One staff member told us that if my fingerprints were rejected, I would have to get a second set. So, he went ahead and took a second set and stored it in the computer "just in case." That's awesome.
Today we also overnighted our I-600A back to Jacksonville (that's the third time, in case you are counting). Also, the social worker came back to ask the girls some questions, and a few lose-end questions for me. She said that her report would basically be completed next week. We still have the "safety check" home inspection visit. Hopefully, we can get that completednext week, too.
If you are wondering about the girls' interview...the social worker asked the girls the best and worst things about Todd and me. For me, the best thing is that I take them fun places and the worst is that I make them eat healthy--especially whole grains. For Todd, the best thing is that he is funny and the worst is that he embarrasses them.
So, it was another great day in our adoption adventure. We continue to work on our Spanish and pray for Domita Hope...And God ensures that we maintain our sense of humor about this!

Loved the update. Sorry about the lack of fingerprints, Kimberly. Guess you'll have to quit washing when you are scheduled for another fingerprint experience.
Great blogs. Love reading them all.
Love, Mom O.
Kimberly, I remember hearing a story about the interviews my parents and relatives had when they were waiting to adopt me. My father's mother died when he was 13 years old. He was an only child. When the social workers were looking to interview relatives on my Dad's side of the family, they were referred to Aunt Amanda. She was actually a 2nd cousin to my father. She was a strange woman. My Mom shared that when she learned Amanda was to be interviewed, she felt sick to her stomach. Amanda HATED KIDS. She even, the story goes, had HER father draw up papers that her husband had to sign prior to their marriage agreeing NEVER to force Amanda to have sex or have kids. Can you imagine? Anyway...my mother was so worried...but after the interview with Amanda, my mother asked the social worker how it went, and the Social Worker replied, " Don't worry, Mrs. Schumacher, nothing Amanda said will in anyway affect our decision."
Now after I was adopted, my mom said she changed her tune. She was always buying me things and spoiling my brother and me. She had lots of money and was not afraid to spend it.
I hadn't seen her in years when I was to be married, but I distinctly remember my mother saying, " Don't forget to send an invitation to Aunt Amanda, she's good for $100" and in 1971 - that was a nice gift.
I know this was a long story and certainly longer than I expected it to be. Glad all is going well. I am really enjoying all of your stories.
I wish you the same Happy Ending I got!
