When I set out to homeschool, it was primarily in response to obedience to Christ, as I fully acknowledged that this seemed to be the best choice for Yuly.
As I prepared in fear and trepidation (really!), I prayed that Yuly and I would work well together, that we would be able to finish our work, that we would have good attitudes...
God has answered that and immeasurably more. We are actually having fun!! Not only that, Yuly is excited about learning. And she is learning.
On Saturday, Todd asked me how she was doing and how I was evaluating her learning. I shared some of the things I was doing, and I said that it seemed she was doing well, but I admitted that I had some questions about how much she was really learning. An hour later, totally unprompted by me or Todd, Yuly got out her history book and went page by page explaining to Todd all about the ancient civilizations of the Sumerians, Egyptians, and the people of Crete. It was AWESOME!!

I was thinking through this experience this weekend and recalling how I left something good (at work) to do this. But what I have found is even better! I wonder how many times I have held onto something good when God desired to give me something better. I don't know that answer, but I can say that I am grateful that this time, I was willing to make the trade :)
