Halfway through May!

I thought I'd better get a jump on the May post because we are halfway through May, and we have already celebrated Yuly's 8th birthday, Audrey's 16th birthday, my mom's ?? birthday. We've also had a guitar recital (Savanna) and ballet recital (Audrey). We have celebrated Mother's Day, enjoyed a visit from my brother and his son, and Savanna went to her middle school banquet. Whew!!


For Yuly's birthday, we had a party at Happy Trails. She invited a few friends from church and school. The girls got to ride horses, go on a hay ride, and see a dog show. Yuly had a great time. Todd and I gave her a light-up Little Mermaid doll. Wee got that for her because she told me, "If you don't get me the Ariel doll for my birthday, you will not get cake on my birthday, only whuppins." I think that quote demonstrates how well she fits into our family!! She has a great sense of humor and loves to tease. But, her threat worked and she got the doll.



Audrey dances with a ballet studio that seeks to worship God through dance. Her recital was beautiful. Every year I am amazed at how her skills have progressed.

For Mother's Day, we took a picnic to a local park. It was a lot of fun. And afterwards, I got to take a nap :) It was a great Mother's Day. Yuly and Riza made me something like 200 cards a piece (ok, a little exaggeration). But it was special to have them get so excited about showing their love.

Yuly was on the school t.v. with two friends leading the school in the pledge of allegiance. She was so excited about that. And at church, she is really starting to participate. It has taken her longer there than at school for some reason--maybe just the frequency. It is fun to watch her really engaged and communicating with peers.

Now we are just working to finish out the school year on a strong note. Audrey and Yuly finish school on the 4th of June. Savanna gets out a week earlier. Sometime soon we will also be going to get Audrey's driver's license. Wow!!

So, I will post again at the end of May, but I thought I'd better put May into two posts--there's still a lot going on!
