February Happenings (and a little of March)

So, the most fun part of February was our trip to the beach! We were able to join my parents and my aunt and uncle for a wonderful, relaxing weekend at the beach. Riza and Yuly played in the water. The rest of us looked on huddled in our jackets.

While at the beach, we also celebrated Savanna's birthday. We officially have two teenagers in the house! GULP!

Other major accomplishments:

We refinalized Yuly's adoption. There were many delays and changes of courts/judges, so by the time we had our turn, she was very cranky. But, we had a nice talk with the judge and he granted our petition. My parents and all of the girls were there, so that was awesome. Pictures later--Yuly is not in them because she refused. After we left we went for frozen yogurt and her mood improved drastically. We have had a rough week, and I think some of it has been missing Colombia combined with the upcoming court date. We had talked about it, but I'm sure she was stressed and didn't really know what to expect.

We had a doctor's appointment in January: 5 shots
We had a doctor's visit in February: 4 shots
We had a doctor's visit today because of infected ear piercing sites: She did great! (no shots!)

Between January 5 and March 4 she has grown 2 inches and gained 1 pound (although when we lift her, it sure seems like more than 1 pound!)

Yuly shared a Power Point presentation with her class about Colombia.

Yuly had a friend from school over to play.

Yuly and Riza went to a birthday party for a friend from Colombia (Yuly's first birthday party--and now every day she adds more to her plans for her birthday party--which is in May).

Yuly received a Bible from a special friend. It is pink (her favorite color) and has her name on it. She has been asking lots of questions about God and Jesus.

We keep growing and learning as a family. Looking forward this month to taking Yuly to Todd's parents' home in Missouri.

Changes are always hard on them. Even when I explain things over and over it still seems that they are out of sorts until whatever the new thing is is over and they realize they have survived. I will say that their anxiety about new things has decreased, but it is still there. Yuly's will decrease too, but I know you wish it were sooner. :)
Congratulations on surviving such a busy month!

I love the pictures. Very cute of Riza and Yuly playing together. That's so adorable that Yuly is so excited about her birthday. You'll definitely have to post photos of the party in the spring as it sounds like she has big plans.

Ok, it's hard for me to read the post and see the pics...I'm so jealous you have warm weather there! Can't wait to get out and play in the sand and water again...send some of that warm weather to the Upper Gulf Coast!
