Making Preparations

Today we spent the morning cheering on Savanna and her friends at Volleyball. It was a lot of fun. Afterwards we headed to the mall to start buying things for the trip.

One stop was to Build-a-Bear to make a bear for Y. We had decided that Audrey and Savanna would record a message that said, "Welcome to our family. We love you." They went to a quiet area to record it while Riza and I shopped for an outfit. Audrey and Savanna were gone a long time--way too long to record a 10 second message, so I went to check on them. When they started to record it, they realized that it would be much better to record it in Spanish (duh!) and Audrey was trying to figure out how to say it.

I told them that I would call a friend to help while they headed to another store and we would reconvene. I took our items to the clerk to explain why we weren't ready to purchase and she got excited and told me she wanted to help. She called her mom and a couple other people before she remembered she had a Hispanic friend working at another store. She called him to come down and he practiced the saying with the girls. It was so fun. They were very nice and encouraging. The picture is of them celebrating their accomplishment.

After they finished recording, we stuffed the bear, and each of the girls warmed a heart in their hands, kissed the heart (and the rest of the "heart ritual"), placed the three hearts in the bear and dressed the bear. This wasn't the only thing we accomplished, but it was definitely the most fun thing!
