Hope deferred...

Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life. Proverbs 13:12

I find myself having two divergent thoughts while we wait...

One is that God's timing is perfect. Only God could create a single moment in time that is in the best interest of our daughter, our entire family, the foster family, the workers at our agency, the workers in Colombia, and everyone else involved in this process. Really, that is amazing. There is a bigger picture than just me here.

The other thought is "WHY IS THIS TAKING SO LONG?"

But, the wait is not without blessings. Friends calling or telling me that they are praying for us and our new daughter...Riza wishing her new sister from Colombia would get here...crazy adopting dreams (our referral was announced on ESPN! Imagine that!)...reading adoption blogs (I am often blessed by these)...learning Spanish...dreaming of traveling (I love to travel!)

And I am amazed how often I "happen on" a Bible verse about orphans. How did I miss these all these years? I am thankful that God has opened my eyes and has provided a plan for our family to reach out to an orphan.

So, I wait. Patiently at times. Feeling like I will explode any second at others. But trying all the time to trust in God's perfect timing. I can't wait to look back at this entry someday and say "Yes. The timing was perfect."

You don't have to wait to travel! Why not go explore Colombia before the adoption? Take the family and visit some orphanages or plan to just site see. That will make the anticipation grow even stronger and intensify your prayers for your child. My prayer for our story was that it would be so much more than just an adoption but God's glory be magnified...and it's really wild, but it's still happening! God is being lifted up and letting us in doors we've never imagined, and even b/c of our adoption we've met up with a pastor in Colombia who now may be interpreting for ICBF and government agencies... the word of God will infiltrate that government body...that building and so much more! Our stories are so much bigger than we can imagine... and you know what... your Colombian jewel just might be on ESPN one day telling about her gotcha day! =) Wouldn't that be cool? There are lots of soccer stars from CO!

I am sure that when you look back, you will indeed say that the timing was perfect, but that doesn't make it easier to wait. I think it's helpful to look at past parts of your life and see how perfect His plan was and how everything worked together and the timing was perfect. That always brings me great comfort. But the waiting is still tough. Best wishes for a speedy referral and for God's strength as you wait!!

Ecclesiastes 3:1
To every [thing there is] a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

Just remember everything is purposed by God and he makes all things beautiful in his time. A lot of times we are in a hurry b/c we can't see the road ahead of us but Thank God he sees and knows everything. As soon as our God is ready for you all to meet Domita Hope, all stumbling blocks will be removed. What God has for you all is only for you all.

I can't wait to meet the bundle of joy that we've been praying for so earnestly. Ty
