Through God's grace, we have been blessed to be Yuly's family. However, as much as we have been able to do for Yuly, there is one thing we can never do for her...and that is provide a means for reconciling her broken relationship with God. Yuly, like every other person, was separated from fellowship from God. But I rejoice in saying "was" because Yuly has become a new creation! The old has gone and the new has come!
Yuly has always asked a lot of spiritual questions (well, to be more accurate, she asks a lot of questions about everything!). She kept telling us that she wanted to be baptized. Over a series of several weeks, we kept the dialogue open and on-going. Her spiritual insights and ability to relate to Bible stories to herself was amazing to us. She expressed a desire to follow Christ and be obedient to Him. We witnessed an amazing personality transformation. I can't adequately describe it. Yuly has been a very giving child ever since we met her. She is usually the first of my children to express "thank you" for any gift of service or possession, yet there was a transformation in the desire and follow-through of obedience. And now, she frequently asks to read the Bible or pray for situation that she hears about. It has been an amazing, humbling, wonderful experience. Yuly was baptized on Mother's Day. For me, Yuly's second adoption was a most awesome Mother's Day gift...
