On May 1, Yuly celebrated her second birthday with her family. She is now 9 years old. She has grown something like 11 inches since we first met her in October 2009. She has grown much more than just physically, of course, it is just that her physical growth is easy to measure!
We had her friend party on Friday before her birthday. She had 4 sweet friends come and we had a spa night. The girls got manicures, pedicures, facials...the whole works. We also had pizza, pinata, a treasure hunt and the movie Tangled. It was a lot of fun. Yuly worked with her grandma to make her birthday cake.
On Sunday we celebrated her birthday starting with breakfast in bed...waffles, chocolate covered strawberries, and chocolate coffee. We had lunch at Grandma and Grandpa's (meatloaf and mashed potatoes) and then Subway sandwiches at the park for dinner. Tons of fun! We have so much to celebrate!
On Thursday we had three major events. First of all, Audrey turned 17 years old! I really have a hard time grasping that I am a mom to a 17 year old. She is such a beautiful young lady.
Thursday was also National Day of Prayer. I took Yuly and Riza out of school and to the capitol. There is a children's prayer event in our town. The girls were able to meet members of our armed forces and community helpers (firemen, paramedics, policemen) and pray with them. As an added bonus, the girls got to climb into some of their equipment including a Coast Guard boat, armored vehicle, police car, fire truck, and ambulance. We ate a picnic as the main event started. I would like to tell you that in Tallahassee, Florida the governor, lt governor, attorney general, and all of the members of the cabinet ALL PRAYED. It was awesome!
Thursday afternoon we let Audrey open her presents, and then we hurried to get ready for Savanna's middle school banquet. She is finishing up middle school and will head to high school next year. Yikes! In case you are keeping count at home, next year I will have a Senior, a Freshman, a 3rd grader and a Kindergardener. Whew!
We finally had Audrey's birthday cake on Friday, and then on Saturday we celebrated my Mom's birthday. And after Mom's birthday dinner, we headed to Savanna's guitar recital. Whew! The first week of May is a crazy time for us!
But, we have even more to share in my next post. For all the fun and excitement of this week, it pales in excitement of what I have to share next. Tomorrow, Yuly will be baptized. I will share more of her story when I post those pictures. But, I can tell you, we are rejoicing for our daughter who has now been adopted twice!!
